CO21 CHALLENGE TRIAL Friday, May 23, 2025 Terri Swain-Collins is a retired X-ray technologist and former Manager of Imaging at Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC). She was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer in 2021 after an asymptomatic FIT test led to further investigation. Terri was under the care of Dr. Christopher Booth and underwent treatment that included surgery and chemotherapy. Through Dr Booth she was invited to join the CCTG CO21 CHALLENGE clinical trial, which was an investigation into the role of exercise in cancer recovery. Beginning the study in February 2022, Terri began her participation in the trial and worked closely with a physiotherapist, Alison, who helped her develop a sustainable fitness routine. The support and accountability motivated her to integrate regular brisk walking into her life. Now, three years later, she continues to walk three times a week, feels fit, and remains cancer-free — grateful for the impact of the program on her health and well-being.
