Dr. Philippe Bedard presented with the Michaele C. Christian Oncology Drug Development Award

Congratulations to Dr. Philippe Bedard who was recently honoured with the 17th annual Michaele C. Christian Oncology Drug Development Award at the NCI CTEP Early Drug Development Meeting. The Award is presented annually to a mid-career investigator to recognize their contributions to the development of novel agents for cancer therapy.

Dr Bedard’s lecture “Linking Cancer Genomics to Early Drug Development” touched on the AACR project, Genomics Evidence Neoplasia Information Exchange (GENIE). He is the GENIE Project chair, an international pan-cancer registry of real-world data between 19 leading international cancer centers with the goal of improving clinical decision-making.

Dr Bedard is Clinical Director of the Cancer Genomics program at the University of Toronto and Medical Oncologist at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. He is a Past Chair of the Canadian Clinical Trials Group (CCTG) Investigational New Drug (IND) Committee, chairs the IND Early Clinical Trials Advisory Group, and is also currently a member of the CCTG Breast Cancer Disease Site as well as in the Executive.

CCTG and the IND Program congratulate him on this well-deserved award recognizing his contribution to early drug development. Dr Bedard is a highly valued member of CCTG, and has, and continues to, contribute significantly to CCTG research agenda by leading and chairing clinical trials, providing input and insight into research agendas and educational initiatives.
