Clinical Investigator Policy for IND Studies

Due to the fact that IND trials utilize investigational agents, we have a policy to accept only faculty-level/clinical staff as investigators able to enroll patients. A useful rule of thumb is to consider that anyone who can receive a formal referral from an outside physician is able to act as an investigator on trials of investigational drugs. If a physician is not someone to whom referrals can be made (e.g. a fellow, resident or GPO), they are not allowed to be an investigator on IND trials. This policy has been in effect for many years.
