Spring Meeting 2017: Canadian Cancer Trials Group Awards


Each year, at the CCTG Annual Spring Meeting of Participants, we recognize individuals and groups who have made significant contributions to cancer clinical trials research. Submissions are received from across Canada and then reviewed by the clinical trials committee who select the winners.

Winners will be honoured on the evening of Friday, April 28 at the Canadian Cancer Trials Group Recognition Awards Ceremony in Toronto.

Joseph Pater Founder's Award for Excellence in Clinical Trials Research
2017 Recipient: Dr. Ming-Sound Tsao
This annual award recognizes an investigator whose leadership and body of work has contributed to significant advances in the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, cure, and prevention of cancer.

Elizabeth Eisenhauer Early Drug Development Young Investigator Award
2017 Recipient: Dr. David Cescon
The annual award is presented annually to an exceptional MD, fellow, or PhD, who has either spent time at CCTG's Central Office, worked with the Investigational New Drug Program, or contributed significantly to an IND trial.

Ralph Meyer Phase III Program Young Investigator Award
2017 Recipient: Dr. Tanya Skamene
This award is presented annually to any MD, fellow or PhD, who has either spent time at CCTG?s Central Office, worked on Phase III projects with Disease Site Committees, Endpoint Committees, Working Groups, or who has contributed significantly to the conduct of a Phase III trial.

Investigational New Drug Program Team Award
2017 Recipient: IND.226 Team, Ottawa Hospital Research Institute
2017 Recipient: IND.214 Team Ottawa Hospital Research Institute
This award is presented annually to a non-MD team of clinical research associates, nurses, pharmacists and others who participated in any Canadian Cancer Trials Group IND clinical trial to acknowledge their efforts and dedication to the success of clinical trials.

Phase III Program Team Award
2017 Recipient: PR.17 Team, Cross Cancer Centre, Edmonton
2017 Recipient: SC.24 Team Odette Cancer Centre, Toronto
Presented to individual trial teams from Canadian member centres to acknowledge their efforts and dedication to the success of clinical trials.
