Search Committee Established for Director of Canadian Cancer Trials Group

A Search Committee has been established to provide a recommendation on the appointment of a successor to Dr. Ralph Meyer who will be relocating to Hamilton to assume the positions of President of the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre for Hamilton Health Sciences and Regional Vice-President of Cancer Services, Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant for Cancer Care Ontario.

The Search Committee is co-chaired by Dr. Richard Reznick, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen's University, which has served as the home of the Canadian Cancer Trials Group since the Group was founded in 1980, and Dr. Christine Williams, Vice-President of Research for the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS). The CCS provides the Group's core programmatic funding and the Canadian Cancer Trials Group has long been one of CCS's national programmes of research.

The Committee also includes Dr. Richard Schilsky, Chief Medical Officer of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, who will provide an international perspective. Of note, Dr. Schilsky was the chair of the panel that conducted the recent five-year review of the Canadian Cancer Trials Group for the Canadian Cancer Society Research Institute.

Very importantly, the Committee includes a number of Canadian Cancer Trials Group investigator members who represent the Group's mission and mandate.

Other members of the Search Committee are drawn from the Queen's Cancer Research Institute, home to three research groups, including the Canadian Cancer Trials Group, from the Canadian Cancer Trials Group Central Office, and from other Queen's University departments that collaborate with the Canadian Cancer Trials Group.
