Appointment of Canadian Cancer Trials Group Group Administrator

Over the past year, a process was initiated to review the Group's internal organizational structure out of recognition that defining a leadership role might enhance our abilities to relate to external organizations, such as the US National Cancer Institute and its National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN) and the evolving Canadian Cancer Clinical Trials Network (CCCTN), to streamline functions and interactions among our internal management portfolios, and to facilitate abilities of individuals, including the Director, in meeting their responsibilities. As a result, it was determined that we should create a Group Administrator position, with this role including aspects related to strategic oversight, external relationships, and internal leadership responsibilities.

Alison Urton I am pleased to announce that Alison Urton has been appointed as the Group Administrator and will assume this role as of July 1, 2013. Since joining Canadian Cancer Trials Group in 2003, Alison's background includes roles as Manager, Audit and Monitoring Group beginning in 2006 and Manager, Office of Compliance beginning in 2011. Alison brings to the role extensive understandings of clinical trials operations, strategic planning, innovation, managerial leadership, as well as appreciation of the external environment in which we must function.

I would like to express my thanks to Alison for taking on this role. I am very confident that she will excel in this position and the Group will benefit enormously. Please join me in welcoming Alison to this position.
