Reminder -- "Complexity" Funding Available for BRC.5

In October 2008, the Canadian Cancer Trials Group announced that the National Cancer Institute (NCI US) had been working on a process to evaluate and provide additional funding for certain trials with additional "complexity". The method of evaluating studies was completed, and 14 phase III cooperative group trials -- including BRC.5 -- were initially selected to receive this complexity funding, which will be an additional $1,000 US per case (above the current $2,000 US per case funding already provided).

We wanted to remind centres that complexity funding is available for patients enrolled onto BRC.5 -- A phase III randomized trial of lobectomy vs sublobar resection for small (<2 cm) peripheral non-small cell lung cancer. Centres will receive an additional $1,000 US (for a total of $3,000 US per case funding) for patients enrolled after June 1, 2008.
