Canadian Cancer Trials Group Bulletins

Radioisotope Shortages

The Canadian Cancer Trials Group is aware of the shortages in the availability of radioisotopes that have resulted due to the temporary closure of the Chalk River manufacturing site. We appreciate the potential for substantial implications to the delivery of care to patients who are treated on or off of clinical trials. We recognize that each institution is developing its own priorities and that provincial Ministries of Health have also established guidelines.

The Canadian Cancer Trials Group has developed its own general principles on how to deal with the potential radioisotope shortage as it relates to Canadian Cancer Trials Group clinical trials.
