Requirements for Satellite Pharmacies

We would like to remind all pharmacists and centre personnel that any location outside the main pharmacy where a multiple day supply of study drug is stored prior to dispensation is considered a satellite pharmacy. This includes off-site clinics, hospitals, physician offices and retail pharmacies. Satellite pharmacies are subject to the same requirements as a main pharmacy and therefore must maintain appropriate satellite drug accountability logs as well as ensuring compliant drug security and storage (with temperature logs). A more detailed overview of pharmacy requirements can be found in the NCI US Clinical Trial Monitoring Branch (CTMB) Guidelines which are posted to the Canadian Cancer Trials Group website at the link below:

If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact the IMP coordinator at Canadian Cancer Trials Group, Andy Dowker at or 613-533-6430.
